File:Charles Dickens Readings at Steinway Hall, Boston, Mass., 1867.jpg

[edit]

Steinway Hall "Boston" - There seems to be nowhere to document a correction I have just made to this article. There is a significant error on the Wikimedia site, where an engraving of a crowd queueing for tickets outside Steinway Hall on East 14th Street, New York City, is incorrectly described as depicting Steinway Hall in Boston. I have altered the description of the illustration on Wikimedia, but it seems impossible to alter the misleading title, which speaks of Boston. There was no Steinway Hall in Boston, certainly not in December 1867 when the readings given by Charles Dickens in New York caused the queue to be drawn and reported in Harpers Weekly. Dickens also spoke in Boston, but at the Tremont Temple, and the illustration comes from his readings later in the month in New York. For a fuller discussion of this point, please refer to the discussion page I have started for the relevant graphic file at Wikimedia. --Pianola (talk) 14:42, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Steinway Hall, 57th Street - I have altered the description of the first of the two photographs, which is clearly not the Steinway Hall on 57th Street. The Library of Congress, where this photograph originates, describes it as the Site of Steinway Hall on 57th Street, and specifically notes that the title was taken from unverified data, meaning a scrawled title on the original negative. Once again, the title of the photograph on Wikimedia is very misleading. --Pianola (talk) 18:42, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand why external links to official company websites should be deleted from the article. External links to company websites are very normal. The external links in this article are all to the official websites of the worldwide Steinway Halls. I don't understand why Binksternet has deleted them and and why the user has deleted them all. Btw: To use the word "vandalism" when two users have different opinions is false as I see it.[1] --195.254.169.226 (talk) 14:53, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I used the term "vandalism" because you are avoiding the block of User:Fanoftheworld. You are in violation of Wikipedia's rules about blocked editors not editing at all. Binksternet (talk) 14:55, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you have accused me 3 times for being a sock of Fanoftheworld, including two accuses written on my talk page today. That has nothing at all to do with this article. And your acuses are false. You have made an edit three times and I would like to hear why you think your edits should be made in this article. The explanation about your edits. Please, don't waist time on writing a lot about other things. This talk page is about Steinway Hall. --195.254.169.226 (talk) 15:14, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
