Well-written

[edit]

Overall

  • Add "the" before the noun throughout the article per WP:FALSETITLE (e.g. "by the American band Muna", "written by the band members", "the singer Kelly Clarkson", "of the singer-songwriter Taylor Swift", "According to the journalist", "On October 13, 2020, the indie rock duo").
Wasn't aware of this criteria; thanks for the education! Fixed throughout.--Changedforbetter (talk) 20:42, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Top, infobox, and lead

  • "American band" is unnecessary for the short description. I think it's not very common to add the descriptor there.
Are you certain? Mentioning the nationality of the artist/band in the lead seems to be a common practice for song and album articles.--Changedforbetter (talk) 20:58, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I meant in the Template:Short description but it's just a detail. CatchMe (talk · contribs) 21:05, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, got it. Revised to "2019 song by Muna"--Changedforbetter (talk) 05:40, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Music video template inserted.--Changedforbetter (talk) 13:31, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • I think the links in "single", "breakup", and "music critics" could be removed per WP:OVERLINK as they are common terms.
Revised.--Changedforbetter (talk) 05:40, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • "A music video for "Stayaway" was released on August 16, 2019, the same day as the single." - I think the date here is unnecessary, just leaving "on the same day as the single".
Fixed.--Changedforbetter (talk) 05:40, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Background

  • I would change the section's title to "Background and release" or "Background, writing, and release", since it's not only about the background events..
I changed to "Writing and release" to maintain a shorter heading, since the only "Background" really discussed is Muna writing new material while touring with Harry Styles.--Changedforbetter (talk) 05:40, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • The first two sentences of the second paragraph start with "According to..."; I would change the second to "The band stated that..." or something.
Revised.--Changedforbetter (talk) 05:40, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • "RCA Records released "Stayaway" as the third single from the band's then-upcoming second studio album, Saves The World" - "RCA Records released "Stayaway" as the third single from Saves the World", as it's already described before (and with a lowercase t).
Fixed.--Changedforbetter (talk) 05:40, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Music and lyrics

  • "twenty-six seconds (3:26)" - I don't think the clarification is needed.
Removed.--Changedforbetter (talk) 13:31, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • "from an ex" - "from an ex-partner"?
Fixed.--Changedforbetter (talk) 13:31, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Just a detail: some lyrics are separated with an space around the bar, and one does not, so I would choose one or the other for consistency.
Fixed; I opted for spacing to indicate that they are lyrics, because the use of "/" in regular prose typically does not have spacing.
Fixed.--Changedforbetter (talk) 13:31, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • "one of Muna's songs the band themself has described" - "one of Muna's songs that the band themselves have described"?
Fixed.--Changedforbetter (talk) 13:31, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reception

  • Consider adding some sentences and fusing others to follow WP:RECEPTION.
Revised prose.--Changedforbetter (talk) 17:55, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Dave Fawbert of i" - "Dave Fawbert of the i".
Fixed.--Changedforbetter (talk) 17:55, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Live performances and covers

  • "such as auto-tune" - "such as Auto-Tune".
  • "for the same EP" - isn't that a single? (Spotify Singles).
You are correct, it is a single; I changed to "for the same occasion" because "for the single" seemed odd to me here.--Changedforbetter (talk) 01:30, 4 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Fixed.--Changedforbetter (talk) 01:30, 4 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Muna Tweeted" - The second word isn't capitalized in its article.
Fixed.--Changedforbetter (talk) 01:30, 4 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • "they felt surprised "honored" by Clarkson's cover" - remove "suprised"?
Fixed.--Changedforbetter (talk) 01:30, 4 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Credits and personnel

Fixed.--Changedforbetter (talk) 01:34, 4 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Accurate and verifiable

[edit]
  • Earwig's Copyvio shows Violation unlikely with the highest at 30.1%, almost all given to quotes and lyrics. Good.
  • The Forbes source should be replaced per WP:FORBESCON.
I would argue for making an exception and sparing the Forbes reference in this instance because it is only used once, the bulk of the article is an interview with Muna mostly comprising block quotes from the band, the only text cited is a direct quote from one of the band members, and the author Steve Baltin is a freelance journalist with contributions to such reputable sources as Billboard, Rolling Stone, the Los Angeles Times, Vice, The Hollywood Reporter, and Variety.--Changedforbetter (talk) 01:52, 4 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Is the Euphoria. Magazine opinion relevant?
Removed. It provides an interesting summary of the song's music and lyrics in my opinion but isn't necessary.--Changedforbetter (talk) 01:53, 4 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Although WP:PERSONNEL says otherwise, the Credits and personnel section should be sourced per WP:VERIFIABLE, which is a policy.
Literally had this before and another editor removed it aha, saying the opposite aha. Fixed.--Changedforbetter (talk) 01:52, 4 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have seen them removing it from other articles as well, but a policy is more important than an eassy on style imo, specifically por a GA. CatchMe (talk · contribs) 04:03, 4 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Several "url-status=live" are missing.
Fixed.--Changedforbetter (talk) 03:24, 4 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Spot-check

  • Ref 2 verifies that the band needed a "long period of hibernation" before writing the album, "Stayaway" was made after Gavin's life changes, and that Maicki believed it was one of their "boldest sounding material". Green tickY
  • Ref 9 verifies the band's statement about the song and that it is contains R&B elements. Green tickY
  • Ref 17 verifies it is a synth-pop song, but ref 18 just states it is a "synth tune", which isn't quite the same since other synth-led subgenres also exist. I would just remove the second ref.
Deleted the second source.--Changedforbetter (talk) 01:56, 4 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ref 19 verifies it is an electropop song along with "Number One Fan". Green tickY
  • Ref 30 verifies that Pollard compared it to Daft Punk. Green tickY
  • Ref 45 verifies that "her vocals start at nearly a whisper and crescendo into Katie desperately belting". Green tickY
  • Refs 52 and 39 verify that they named it one of the best releases of the weeks. Green tickY
  • Ref 95 verifies Muna's tweet. Green tickY

(Numbers as of this revision.)

Broad

[edit]
  • It is.

Neutral

[edit]
  • I believe there weren't mixed/negative reviews?
Couldn't find any mixed or negative reviews in reputable sources.--Changedforbetter (talk) 03:10, 4 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Stable

[edit]
  • Yes, no edit wars in the last months.

Illustrated

[edit]
  • The cover for the Now, Now remix could be added, but not sure if it would meet WP:NFCCP#8 so I'm fine leaving it like that.
I would opt not to.--Changedforbetter (talk) 03:18, 4 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Could there be added a picture of the band? And maybe of other artist mentioned.
The band only has one image of Muna on Wikipedia; added it, as well as an image of Kelly Clarkson.--Changedforbetter (talk) 03:18, 4 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
