State Theatre IS an Opera House

[edit]

While I support the removal of the category "Opera Houses" from the Melbourne Arts Centre, the State Theatre is one of the several venues in that Centre and it IS the one where opera is performed by a variety of companies.

Check the category list below and you'll see that worldwide opera venues are listed there. Category:Opera houses

Weird article

[edit]

This is a weird article, combining two completely different theatres just because they both at different points in history shared the same name. Unless objections, I'm going to make the article about the current State Theatre, and move the content about the Old State Theatre to the Forum Theatre article and just maintain a sentence for historical context. That seems sensible to me. The current confusion started when an anonymous editor added a new 1st paragraph on 5 September 2009. That should be removed and a hatnote should be added: "For the former State Theatre (1929) in Melbourne, see Forum Theatre." -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 10:27, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
