Copyrighted Material

[edit]

Although Fair Use policies allow the quoting of material such as lyrics without violating copyright, these policies have limits. These limits include the straight copy-publishing of entire scripts, poems, or songs for reading without the permission of the author (though exceptions apply, of course). As such, I have removed the section of this article containing the theme songs. Dwanyewest (talk) 01:10, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

USS Arizona

[edit]

Sometimes writers go just a little overboard. Every fan I know waiting for a live action movie wants the ship to be the rebuilt Yamato. Even the American ones. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.148.43.180 (talk) 12:58, 1 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Copy Edit

[edit]

Hi there, I'm attempting to copyedit your article, I will post some notes here as to the changes I make, and I will go section by section so that if there are any changes I make that you don't like, it will be easier to revert. If I've made any errors, or you just don't like my edits, feel free to revert any of them, I won't be offended, honest! --Despayre (talk) 15:48, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox:

- removed dead links from infobox, if these ppl haven't had articles created by now, it's unlikely they're going to

Lead:

- removed extraneous links as per WP:Overlink
- removed ampersand a per MOS
- removed bolding of original series name
- added italics to series name

History:

- replaced bolding with italics as per MOS
- Minor prose/text fixes
- removed dead link for westchester
- Fixed starlog ref
- removed 4:30pm reference to air-time
- removed jason and the argonauts wikilinks, as it is the first sentence in the Argo wikilink that directly precedes it
- removed voyager entertainment dead wikilink

Plot: Uhm... this section does *NOT* tell me the plot... What is the over-arching story that was referred to in the lead??

- Elucidate tag added

Characters:

- removed birth-death dates, not relevant, and already included in his own article here, this section is about the characters, not the actors
- minor prose fixes, replaced cp with captain

Live action adaptation:

- removed "ironic, Pearl Harbour" reference, relevance? intentional? cite? (and can also be read about in the immediately preceding wikilink for the Arizona
- who is Benderspink??
- minor prose fixes
- removed links as per wp:overlink
- changed "1" to "One" as per MOS
- added wikilink for Skydance Productions

American comic adaptations:

- removed nippan books dead wiki-link
- other dead links removed
- grammar fix, "remnant"
- number to word, 3/Three
- italics, ship name, Yamato
- Editors here, "haunted by pasts that never happened", huh?? tagged with [further explanation needed]
- trimmed run-on sentence
- Plot details? does the Argo learn anything about the black hole? the colony attacks? seems like the last half of the summary is left out...
- I'm still not thrilled with "Shocked by the disaster and the lack of response from Earth's government, Wildstar (now grey-haired, bearded, in his mid-40s, and constantly haunted by the past — as well as by pasts which never happened) and Sandor devote their wealth and energies to rebuilding the nearly shattered Argo", seems like a very "wordly" sentence, it's not wrong, but I think it could be phrased better/tidied up/broken up/something...

DVDs:

- removed dead link
- minor prose fixes

And that's it! Not bad at all! And again, if you don't like any of my edits, feel free to revert any of them. I hope my efforts have improved your article, at least a little bit! --Despayre (talk) 19:04, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Space Cruiser

[edit]

The article currently says: "In 1976, before the debut of the American Star Blazers series, the 1977 Japanese Space Battleship Yamato (or Space Cruiser Yamato as it was known at the time) was dubbed into English and re-titled Space Cruiser."

So wait, the people who dubbed it into English also traveled back in time a year before doing so? <scratches head> 68.36.178.56 (talk) 16:24, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Cast update

[edit]

Captain Avatar was spelled as Gordon Ramsay which links to the TV chef. Updated to point to Gordon Ramsey. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.52.207.46 (talk) 18:43, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Color Bias

[edit]

It seems some passages have a strong negative bias toward the English localization process involved in the Star Blazers production. Particularly the use of the term "Bowdlerized" suggesting that the edits were a heavy-handed or misguided sanitation pass, and nothing more. In fact, the editors acquiesced as little as possible to FCC demands -- even less so than many later television adaptations -- and most changes were in the interest of making the product more familiar and marketable to a Western audience, up to and including the use of heavily Westernized voice acting. This was arguably reasonable at the time, and perhaps so even today if targeting a general audience rather than a niche anime or Japanese culture fandom. I will leave it as it is, since I don't want to get into an edit war attempting to find neutral language, but I believe it is an issue. 75.107.225.160 (talk) 05:13, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
