Does anyone have a source for the lede sentence: "The lead investigator stated that Bowman's failure to report the alleged assault eventually led to the perpetrator committing further acts of sexual abuse"? I'm seeing this quoted around the internet and attributed to NBC Sports but as far as I can tell it's not in the B&J report and might be from this article. Not a wiki user. I would need to double-check the Jenner and Block report. My understanding is there was a second lawsuit filed against the Blackhawks by a [then] Michigan high school hockey player who argued the Blackhawks were negligent by allegedly endorsing Aldrich.[1] I do not recall the report making the claim that Stan was directly fired for this in particular. I also cannot find any reliable sources that say this. Thanks for your response. I do see that an NBC Chicago article is linked in the body and refers to statements made by the lead investigator. Looking at the Block & Jenner report, I see how one could link these statements: "What is clear is that, after being informed of Aldrich’s alleged sexual harassment and misconduct with a player, no action was taken for three weeks." "The failure to promptly and thoroughly investigate the matter and the decision to take no action from May 23 to June 14 had consequences." "Aldrich engaged in an unwanted sexual advance on a Blackhawks intern—physically grabbing the intern in a sexual manner." I'm not sure if the Wiki language represents this with precision, as in "...eventually leading to the perpetrator committing further acts of sexual abuse." My reading of that is that it implicitly links Bowman's inaction with Aldrich's later offenses, but that's not what the lead investigator was saying. Generally controversial claims on Wikipedia need to stay as close as possible to the source per the Biography of Living Persons policy. While I personally agree with the text that Stan reporting Aldrich's sexual assault[s] to the police may have prevented further crimes, I ultimately cannot find a reliable source to back up that this is what the lead investigator actually said. I've gone ahead to tweak the language, "an internal investigation revealed [Bowman] neglected reports of sexual assault committed by a member of the Blackhawks' coaching staff." -- StarScream1007 ►Talk 12:40, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
