[edit]I have just removed:
- "It signified a station so remote that only a bachelor, or "stag", would be assigned there. Most offshore lighthouses were stag lights, as were many stations in Alaska."
This assertion is not supported by the reference given and is contrary to the facts -- many very isolated lights did have families. The reference simply says that it was a term used for lights that did not have families in residence. . . Jim - Jameslwoodward (talk to me • contribs) 20:33, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
