Chief Constable reference

[edit]

I notice the reference to former Chief Constable John Giffard and wonder if it is now topical enough to deserve a mention? Perhaps a table of previous Chief Constables could be collated and presented instead? 86.138.93.41 15:18, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As there are no objections to this I've modified the entry slightly. 86.138.93.41 16:12, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

South Staffs and arrangements with West Mercia and West Mids police

[edit]

South Staffordshire is only 2-3 miles wide. It would be interesting to know what arrangements there are, between the police forces on neighbouring sides - West Mercia police (Shropshire) and West Midlands police - regarding the pursuit or investigation of cross-border criminals, since it would be easy for a criminal to drive between all three police forces in under five minutes at a leisurely 40mph. Andrew Oakley (talk) 15:05, 5 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There will certainly be liaison between the forces, and where there are particularly active cross border criminals they will no doubt be the subject of police action. I'm not sure that the specifics of any such arrangements would be in the public interest for anyone in the know to discuss as it would reveal police tactics. 195.27.15.83 (talk) 08:08, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding pursuits, when I worked in Staffs Police 5 years ago we could not take pursuits into the West Midlands as (certainly at that time) the West Mids had a "no pursuit" policy. This led to cross border criminals commiting offences in places like Lichfield and then driving (often fairly recklessly) back into the West Mids area where the pursuit HAD to be terminated. Fairly annoying! ~~

Rework?

[edit]

I notice that the article is starting to read a little bit like a series of bullet points. Anyone fancy rewording it to read more like an encyclopaedia? 195.27.15.83 (talk) 08:12, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
