The Perse School

[edit]

Can anyone find a reference to support the claim that it's based on The Perse School For Girls? Dom Kaos (talk) 22:41, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently not: I see that claim has now been removed Dom Kaos (talk) 00:47, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the Perse School is listed on the page, with the claim that the “proof” is books of the cartoons in the archive; that the original was in “Edinburgh” is said to be merely a “claim”. Surely firmer evidence is required for either, and both could be listed as hypotheses? Or it could be admitted that the fictional school is a composite of several establishments?Jock123 (talk) 22:13, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Contradiction

[edit]

Is it based on St. Ninian or St. Trinean's school in Scotland? (First para. of each of first two sections) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.68.15.100 (talk) 13:47, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

According to the Wikipedia Article on St Ninian, it states that Ninian is known as Trynnian in Northern England, thus therefore likely that difference in spelling (Trynnian / Trinean) is due to ancient variation Robsinden (talk) 15:16, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Even if the names are related, what is the answer to the question.. is it based on the school, or is it based on the saint? Zargulon (talk) 11:28, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is based on the school in Edinburgh Scotland. I've based this on 2 sources - the first is the primary source, a former head girl and the second is a secondary source the Gazetteer for Scotland. I've removed the reference for St Ninian's but this could be put back in context of the real St Trinnean's if necessary. Balclutha (talk) 12:37, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There was a St. Trinians school in Edinburgh as my Grandmother was a history teacher there for a couple of years and I was always under the impression that the school in Edinburgh was the basis for the stories. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.61.107.179 (talk) 01:49, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Saint Trinnean's School in Argentina

[edit]

Does anyone have any information about the Saint Trinnean's School in Argentina?[1] Is there any connection with the Edinburgh 1922-1946 school?

Fair use rationale for Image:Sttrinians.jpg

[edit]

Image:Sttrinians.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

2007 Film cast listing

[edit]

I added Gemma Arterton and Talulah Riley (who both appear in almost every scene of the movie) to the cast list and removed Mischa Barton and Girls Aloud (who only have cameo roles at best). Gunstar hero (talk) 17:22, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

8th(3rd) Film

[edit]

If you go on to the oficial St. Trinians website it clearly states there is going to be a 3rd film. Is no one going to add anything about it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.7.242.82 (talk) 12:58, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

When they actually start production. Many, many more movies are confidently announced than are ever made. See WP:NFF Barsoomian (talk) 05:54, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In researching Talk:St Trinian's (film)#Requested move I found it difficult to find all the existing articles that are in some way about this fictional school. There needs to be some navigation device to make this easier. I've started a see also section but I'm not at all sure that's the answer.

Perhaps a Category:St Trinian's School? It would be a subcategory of Category:Fictional schools and would in turn have the existing Category:St Trinian's films as a subcategory.

If so is that the best spelling... the move suggested putting a "." into the title, it's sometimes there sometimes not, and the other question is the apostrophe. Or should it just be Category:St Trinian's or some variant thereof? Andrewa (talk) 13:07, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

See my closing comments on Talk:St Trinian's (film)#Requested move regarding the full stop (UK don't have periods...).  Ronhjones  (Talk) 00:04, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Why did Searle quit drawing them?

[edit]

Why did Searle quit drawing them? Was it because of rights over the film?Foofbun (talk) 23:12, 25 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly because violence and disobedience in schools had become a grim reality. The whole St Trinnian’s joke comes down to British schoolgirls behaving in a manner quite impossible in that era and its culture. It’s called ‘irony’, and the Brits are quite good at that.2001:8003:3E09:FB00:4DEA:B7CC:E0D6:4B5D (talk) 21:40, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
