Talk:St. Raphael's Church (New York City)
Discrepancy with source
[edit]The database at http://www.metrohistory.com/ gives the address of this church building as 505 W. 50th St, but the article says it is at 552 W. 50th. I don't know how to resolve the discrepancy, since that is the only source I can access. --Orlady (talk) 20:12, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
Deletion
[edit]The parish churches of St. Raphael's Church (New York City) and SS. Cyril & Methodius' Church (New York City) were merged to create SS. Cyril, Methodius, and Raphael's Church (New York City). There is a good argument to merge both articles into the new parish, or just one into the present combined parish name and leave the St. Raphael’s as a former church article. Against deleting St. Raphael’s, it appears to be a more significant building with better materials, architecture, and possibly earlier date (building information for both churches in incomplete). However, it may be reused or demolished. Both could produce notable events to document on Wikipedia. Research on these three articles is not complete yet. --James R (talk) 24 January 2011
Revisions
[edit]As the original author of this article, I now agree that this article is best served as a redirect to its primary article of SS. Cyril, Methodius, and Raphael's Church (New York City). The address discrepancy and all the historical info has been transferred to that article. The similar article, SS. Cyril & Methodius' Church (New York City) may also be best served not by deletion but as a redirect to Saints Kjril & Metodi Bulgarian Eastern Orthodox Diocese Cathedral, an article that does not exist yet but would be notable if it did.--James R (talk) 24 January 2011
