The population figures used in this article are mostly untrue
[edit]A lot of the figures seem to be disputed. The "500000" figure for the UK is incredibly large and the figure is unsourced and unverifiable. I also note that Canada's figure has been claimed as being too large too. There needs to be a total overhaul of the section using new data. I will try to do some myself but I do not have the time to find all the sources. Lankandude2017 (talk) 18:15, 16 July 2017 (UTC)

The following article was written in 2014 and has several figures with verifiable sources, but many of their suggestions for replacing figures that only detail foriegn born people seem outlandish too:

Since the author went to much effort to find figures, I presume that there is generally a dearth of information out there so there's very little point in looking for information. I'm not keen on using information that's approaching 10 years old either, as what is happening in many cases for figures that I can find.
The UK has something closer to 200,000 IMO as many estimates for the Sri Lankan Tamils seem to be around that number. They have sub-replacement birth rates so they can't be that high. But finding estimates is impossible as they aren't calculated and the majority of estimates are either for those born in Sri Lanka or Tamils generally (i.e. including Indians); I read an estimate that around 1/3 of Tamils in the UK were from India but again it's unverified.
The number they gave for Sweden is around 10,000 - the figure used in Wikipedia only seems to concern the first-generation, which is the larger of the two due to low birth rates in the Hindu/Buddhist community. I changed this as it seems reasonable. The figure for Australia is correct.
The Gulf had around 1.8 million in 2009. Canada apparently has around 450,000 Sri Lankans according to this article but I question the figure too. A person on Wikipedia appears to think it's more like 150,000...

This article has a racist bias in it. I do not think we should trust news outlets fully.
[edit]I notice that a lot of left-wing news outlets tend to be racist against Non-Muslim Indians (Hinduphobia) and that Sri Lankans often get caught up in it.

The following article states how Sri Lankans are demographically lower class, but overlooks that we have educational attainment equal to that of North-East Asians, and income levels only surpassed by Indian Americans among the Asian American ethncities. We are majority comprised by people who have attained higher education.
