Talk:Sports trainer
Separate Article required
[edit]This article should not be redirected to athletic trainer, as there are too many differences and athletic trainers and sports trainers are completely different. Can someone arrange for this to happen. Thank You. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.239.220.252 (talk • contribs) who is a suspected sockpuppet of the article's original creator, bradles 01
- Already dealt with a long time ago. This article has a sad history that it is really not worth going into. andy 07:10, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

Athletic trainers and sports trainers are different in several key ways.
- The scope of an athletic trainer’s practice includes rehabilitation of athletic injuries
- Athletic trainers require at least a bachelor’s degree in a related field before they can become certified
- The scope of an athletic trainer’s practice includes prevention, identification, and treatment of illnesses common to both athletic populations as well as to the general public.
With that in mind, I didn’t think that a redirect to Athletic trainer was appropriate. My first instinct was to blank the page and add a speedy deletion tag, but that seemed wrong. Sports trainers do exist, in Australia they are commonplace, and it seemed narrow minded and ethnocentric to not include an article about them on Wikipedia.
With that said, I don’t know anything about them beyond what I could find on the Sports Medicine Australia website, and this article needs a lot of work. ITasteLikePaint (talk) 23:37, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
Australia?
[edit]I am guessing from the degree of specificity and the link that this article applies only to Australia. If so, this should be specified up front. Otherwise more general information would be provided.Wschart (talk) 15:48, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
Redirected again
[edit]One person wants an article here. It always has a link to the same website. That's always its only source. I think we know what's going on. Guy (Help!) 07:22, 25 February 2014 (UTC)

Please change redirect to Athletic training, there is a double redirect that needs to be fixed. Ituafmq (talk) 17:00, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
