Harpy or tengu?

Is Yubaba's "harpy" an example of a tengu? Or is Yubaba herself a tengu? I'm not deeply familiar with Japanese folklore, but the Wikipedia article says:

The tengu were originally thought to take the forms of birds of prey, and they are traditionally depicted with both human and avian characteristics. The earliest tengu were pictured with beaks, but this feature has often been humanized as an unnaturally long nose, which today is widely considered the tengu's defining characteristic in the popular imagination.

This seems to be a better fit for Yubaba's bird (or even Yubaba herself) than a Greco-Roman harpy.

"Emetic" or "purifying"?

In the plot summary, after the polluted river is cleansed, it says:

> In gratitude for cleaning him, he gives Sen a magic emetic dumpling

Rather than "emetic", might "purifying" be a better word? Alternatively, is the specific word "emetic" supported by any source? -- Dan Griscom (talk) 00:26, 26 September 2022 (UTC)

Seems to only show up in forums and reddit. "Magic dumpling" would probably be fine. Sen eats a bit and doesn't become ill, after all. - Floydian τ ¢ 01:33, 26 September 2022 (UTC)

Greatest animated films or greatest films

I generally think this film transcends the bounds of animation in terms of its critical acclaim. As it was recently ranked as one of the top 100 greatest films of all time by Sight & Sound, and as the fourth greatest film of the 21st century by BBC, I would say it's time to remove the "animated" disclaimer, and simply state that it is regarded as one of the greatest films of all time. 108.169.202.88 (talk) 19:42, 1 December 2022 (UTC)

Summary rewrite

I've just completely rewritten the plot summary. Previously the summary spent a lot more time discussing the later parts of the movie, to the point where a fifth of the word count was used to describe the last eight minutes of the film. Plokmijnuhby (talk) 16:24, 25 February 2023 (UTC)
