Propose to Merge

[edit]

To begin with, this page has no references nor citations and only defines this complex Japanese concept through the movie Spirited Away, and while it was an excellent movie there are numerous other examples of Kamikakushi, as well as the entire cultural history of where this term came from, on the Yama-bito page (which, as I pointed out on the discussion page both here and there, there is no hyphen in Yamabito, it's like trying to spell Appalachian Appa-lachian. Cheers! Duende-Poetry (talk) 20:31, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Only the tag was placed and no actual rationale for merger was provided. --Omnipaedista (talk) 10:33, 24 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Depressing

[edit]

that this is apparently only some misguided anime fan's attempt to write a second article on the animated film Spirited Away. Being taken away by the fairies etc. is an old concept in many other cultures too. 86.136.110.44 (talk) 19:36, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Anime

[edit]

Detective School Q is another anime which has also explored this topic, but the end result is a murder conspiracy plot. This should be added in the page as well. Penpaperpencil (Talk) 18:54, 6 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

More general focus or rename?

[edit]

(I just started editing on Wikipedia and thought this would be a good page to start on by adding citations.)

Should this article be more inclusive by discussing the topic of spiriting away from multiple cultures, or be more Japan-focused? In that case, would it be better to rename (can you do that?) the article to Kamikakushi since typing "kamikakushi" automatically brings up this article? Or would/should an entirely new Kamikakushi article be made? Rourensu (talk) 22:48, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Unreliable reference

[edit]

I doubt it's good to list a fan-made music video (by IOSYS) as a reference to a character's (Yukari's) ability. Whoever wrote that didn't even write where is all that from (it's from Touhou Project).

It's better to reference official materials (anything by ZUN), add details to this example: what Yukari? (Yakumo is not the only one in the Japanese media), why is she spiriting people away?
