A note

[edit]

To balance the article Soykan note there are two other studies that discuss fish lengths - they are listed on the lat page of the paper and should be added. I have other tasks to attend to right now and might get back to it later or might not if too pressed. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 21:00, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of some sex change lenght claims

[edit]

This removal: [1]. Soykan states that "the change of sex happens within the length range 14.5 to 15 cm (5.7 to 5.9 in) ", according to our article, but the given source[2] states "first reproduction length was 11.51cm and 13.12cm for females and males, respectively." The sex change can hardly happen at 14.5 to 15cm if the first reproduction happens at 13.12cm (unless the males shrink). The source states that "sex inversion occurred between 14.5 and 15.0 cm", but this means that the tipping point, the length at which over 50% of the animals are male, is at that length, not that the actual sex change happens at that length. There were females with a length of 17cm, and males of 11cm. Fram (talk) 14:04, 23 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Okay point taken - I was focussing on Soykan's comment "In the present study individuals longer than 18.0 cm were all males and sex inversion occurred between 14.5 and 15.0 cm total length" - but yeah, agree on the analysis and fix. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 14:42, 23 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
