Merge proposal

[edit]

Specialized Systems Consultants appears to be defunct. They used to have a post office box address in Seattle, Washington, and a Web site at http://www.ssc.com. However, when I visited the URL today, it comes up with a Chinese online casino site. The company used to publish a line of "SSC Pocket Tutorial" reference cards and pamphlets for Unix-like systems. Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble still show the products at their sites, but with utterly ridiculous prices. For example, B&N offers the VI Tutorial for about $750 used, implying these products are out-of-print collector items. (These tutorials used to be available in bookstores for less than $5.) A visit to the Wayback Machine shows the site existed through the end of 2006 as Specialized Systems Consultants. In 2007 it became a redirect to LinuxJournal.com. In 2012 it became just a placeholder page and finally in 2013 it became the Chinese online casino site.

In view of the company no longer existing, I propose merging this information into the Linux Journal article and making Specialized Systems Consultants a redirect to Linux Journal. — QuicksilverT @ 17:15, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
