Start date for missions
[edit]I find 1493 to be highly unlikely as the beginning date for Spanish missions in New Spain, seeing as how the New Spain article starts with Cortes's invasion of Mexico in 1519. Even if New Spain is defined to include the Caribbean islands, I think it is misleading to talk about missions starting in 1493 when talking about a territory that only came under effective Spanish control much later. -- Donald Albury 13:49, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
