before the Axis Powers invaded the Soviet Union (Operation Barbarossa) in mid-1941.: rather than having Operation Barbarossa bracketed here, suggest having it pipe-linked on "invaded the Soviet Union" and move the present link of Soviet Union to the "...and the Soviets contracted for design..."

The "2nd Five-Year Plan" is mentioned here but not in body of article.

Design and description

The comment in the lead regarding the decline of Soviet ship design since the Russian revolution is not really reflected in this section, only that the Leningrad-class was unsatisfactory.
Add the abbreviation for Odero-Terni-Orlando to this section, and use the abbreviation in the "Construction and career" section.
