What substantiation is there for this region, and the counties supposedly in it? I.E, why should we believe this is "South Central" PA? Hillsboro 18:22, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why don't you actually do some research before you ignorantly criticize an article? Google works great for this.

Actually, it is the author's job to reference and substantiate. 160.81.133.194 (talk) 23:52, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The section about dialect is completely inaccurate. I've lived near Harrisburg for years and never heard anyone use any of those expressions or words. I realize that my comment can't be used as a source for changes, but if anyone is looking to improve this article, the dialect section is definitely something to look into. 98.237.21.145 (talk) 00:44, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article doesn't represent subjective experiences such as "I've never heard that." Not all Philadelphians speak in the Philly accent nor do all New Yorkers drop their "R"s. It's about common things said in local vernacular.JaMikePA (talk) 15:25, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

@Paleorthodox: If you still care about this article as passionately as you did in 2012, could you provide some sources for at least the official existence of this region? I can't even easily find a source to back up the 14-county version of South Central PA and what sources I can find tend to disagree with each other more than inclusion might allow. Rather than jumping to AfD I wanted to at least open it up for someone to come forward and give a source that says South-Central PA is a real distinction, and not just a colloquialism. Removals

[edit]

Well I intended to keep this info to edit summaries but I accidentally'd the enter key while writing one and pushed the edit without a sufficient summary so here goes.

  • March 22, 11:36 I removed the list of words and phrases unique to the Susquehanna Dialect because the list was only partially supported by the section's only source (which referred mostly to the Lancaster area itself). While that's not automatic grounds for blanking, I'm also directly contesting its veracity. A better source is needed to link these phrases to the entirety of the South Central PA region.
