Merging and splitting
[edit]I think maybe this page should be merged with Freetekno soundsystem as they are all types of sound system but should come under different headings. Also in the UK Based Sound systems I think this needs to be deleted or turned into a list.

Moved text out of article
[edit]I moved this text to the talk page as it looks like it is in the wrong place:
Acid house parties and music collided with the free festival scene in Britain the late 1980's and spawned numerous sounsdsystems including the most notorious being Spiral Tribe. Parties where the new house music and techno were being played became known as raves and were demonised in the tabloid press. The raves grew quickly in popularity culminating in an estimated 30,000 people at the Castlemorton Common Festival in south west England in 1992. Rave culture continued despite the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 which attempted to outlaw raves and travelling lifestyles in the UK. After this the term free party came into usage by the soundsystems that staged them to symbolise the freedom of expression they offered and the lack of entry fee.
