Edits & comment
[edit]I deleted some repeated copy and added some links. This article starts talking about the people and then gets into the history of the empire - needs a rewrite and maybe transfer of some copy to the Songhai Empire article.--A12n 15:27, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

The description below the main image states "A songhay women", which is gramatically incorrect and should be changed to "A songhay woman". Aleksa13579 (talk) 10:55, 9 April 2023 (UTC)
Orphaned references in Songhai people
[edit]I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Songhai people's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
Reference named "Britannica":
- From Germany: "Germany". Encyclopedia Britannica. Archived from the original on 13 June 2015. Retrieved 18 March 2021.
- From Timurid Empire: Encyclopædia Britannica, "Timurid Dynasty", Online Academic Edition, 2007. "Turkic dynasty descended from the conqueror Timur (Tamerlane), renowned for its brilliant revival of artistic and intellectual life in Iran and Central Asia. ... Trading and artistic communities were brought into the capital city of Herat, where a library was founded, and the capital became the centre of a renewed and artistically brilliant Persian culture."
I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. Feel free to remove this comment after fixing the refs. AnomieBOT⚡ 14:38, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
