Ideas for Edits
[edit]I would like to add a photo of her book, if possible. It is hard to find one that is not copyrighted. I also would like to list the parts of her book in here or so called the poems in this book. I would like to see if I cannot find updates reviews of this book and even critiques of it and the movie that was produced. Aschr3 (talk) 21:53, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
pov
[edit]@User:Orangemike As I am the primary author of the article so far, I guess any perceived pov is at my feet. Your edit comment said "cherry picked reviews". I am not aware of any negative reviews (Ignoring personal amazon reviews etc) . Are you? If so, I would be more than happy to add them. I did in fact add some negative comment in one of the reviews saying "too long" . I'm not sure what reviews you expect. The NyTimes, LA Times, New Yorker, these are the major literary reviewers are they not? Perhaps if all the reviews are good, that is a sign its just a good work? (Or at least one that pushes the right buttons for the reviewers).
Beyond that, there is unfortunately not much to flesh out the article currently. Lots of info already existing in Dove's article, Bridgetower's, Coyne's, The Music's, etc but it doesn't seem appropriate to fork all that over here. Gaijin42 (talk) 13:48, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
- I found a few additional reviews, but they are generally on less reliable sources, and don't contain much critique to add or subtract from what is already listed. (Several of them I'm not sure I would call reviews, but just "heres what this book is about" articles!
- NPR apparently did a review, but all I can find is that it is a "recommended book", can't find any details of the review itself http://www.npr.org/books/titles/138206786/sonata-mulattica-a-life-in-fine-movements-and-a-short-play

Decent interview source, not really a review tho http://www.sycamorereview.com/2009/12/practicing-scales-an-interview-with-rita-dove/
One good reivew, with some balancing critique, but seems of a much lower class of source http://www.writersforum.org/news_and_reviews/review_archives.html/article/2009/07/05/sonata-mulattica Gaijin42 (talk) 14:30, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
- This article came to my attention because of the interference by an s.p.a. from Spark Media. I agree that amason reviews (bad or good) are worthless to an article. Like you, I don't think writersforum.org qualifies as a reliable source. I did, however, remove the amazon.com link (we don't sell the book or help any particular bookseller do so) and the Facebook page, per WP:EL. Thanks for your attention to this work. --Orange Mike | Talk 17:41, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
- User:Orangemike Wouldnt the facebook link be covered under this exception of WP:EL "Except for a link to an official page of the article's subject" ? Gaijin42 (talk) 17:51, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
- Not when we already have a link to the official site of the film adaptation; they don't get more than one link, and a non-social-media link is always to be preferred over a social media link. Indeed, the argument for linking to any film adaptation site is weak, since they are not sites about the book which is the subject of this article, but about a non-notable film based on said book. --Orange Mike | Talk 17:56, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
