Naming convention

[edit]

I added a back-tick to substitute for the glottal stop `okina consonants in Sol Ho`opi`i's name. I wish I could do that for the article title, too. It drives me crazy when I hear people pronounce his name something like Hoopey, and the absence of the Hawaiian diacritical marks lends itself to that. 71.235.61.50 19:09, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've moved the article to a name using the ʻokina. (For a while it used the grave accent ` in place of the okina, but that's wrong too.) You don't have to use substitutes for the ʻokina. You can use it directly by writing ʻ or {{okina}} in the edit box. You can leave it like that, or you can hit "Show preview", select the character with your cursor, copy it, and paste it back into the edit box so that the ʻ character itself appears in the edit box (which makes life easier for future editors as it's easier to read). —Angr (talk) 10:53, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment = C

This article is close to a 'B' and obviously not "Start" - it is well-cited, narrated, and detailed. EBY (talk) 02:49, 13 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
