"The People's Republic of China prohibited abortion in 1910"

[edit]

That can't be possible, since China was still ruled by the Qing dynasty at that point; the People's Republic of China wouldn't exist for another 39 years. Perhaps it should be reworded to "The Chinese government prohibited abortion in 1910"? Geolodus (talk) 08:29, 20 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Geolodus, good catch. I dug up the source and found that the relevant quote is Chinese governments first established induced abortion as a criminal offense in 1910, and they continued to prohibit it until the P.R.C revised the law in 1953. I have gone ahead and made the change in the article as well as some minor related copyediting. signed, Rosguill talk 16:25, 20 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
