Missing Content

Access to information I think there are missing contents in this wikipedia. Nowadays, young adults are getting more than they bargain for as they attempt to enter the workforce, and actually in case of being bitten by social networking there are some hierarchies for people to access to watch someone’s user page, not only simply separated by friends or strangers. Even for friends who already had the basic access, they may not be authorized to view user’s personal pictures which are encrypted except they own exact code to enter in. By this authorized access, social network services such as Fcebook or Renren successfully protect people’s private profile on such open social platform. People can show friends their information and change themselves but no one else can edit them without owner’s permission.

I find there are the same safety issue in the content of "Risk for child safety". In recent years, the increasing number of abduction crimes indicated that more and more criminals started obtaining useful messages for making plans form social computing systems such as Twitter, Facebook or weibo. With the information which parents posted unintentionally on social network services, criminals could make sure the routine of their target and set up a abduction so that children would be made into a dangerous situation. In Dec 2009, a child named Lei in Qingbaijiang District of Chengdu was abducted by criminal by getting his information on social platform.Yaxian (talk) 00:48, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

So people there do not have access to these social networking services examples. Considering the huge population of China, the specific SNS in China, Renren and Sina Weibo are also widely used around the world by the Chinese. They should be added to the 2nd paragraph in the end. Since it referred to data mining, I looked up in the uses of data mining. The commercial uses are referred there, but also other aspects of data mining. Among all of them, I found the spatial data mining is also related to social networking service which is not mentioned in this article. For example if we extract the geological data of twitter users, we could improve public health services by clustering disease.Yaxian (talk) 01:07, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

I can't really agree about the personal information protection part. Because once a person uploads any information such as pictures, personal information or video, then it is on the website and can never be removed. So it may appears that personal information can be authorized and protected, but it is always a false appearance. There is always a way people can obtain information about people who post things online.

An article in The Guardian (Why death is not the end of your social media life) says "Services such as LivesOn and DeadSocial plan to keep your friends and family updated on your Twitter and Facebook pages, even after you have passed away."
