Yes - copyrighted images, fair use or otherwise, are not allowed in templates or in the "User" namespace, so they cannot/will not be allowed. I agree though - they do look pretty crappy without them! DJR (talk) 11:23, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Lots of Sneaky Vandalism

List of guests

I have created a subpage, Soccer AM/List of guests, to tabulate the celebrities who appear on the show. Back dating is going to be stupendously difficult, but a future record will be quite feasible if viewers are able to contribute. If anyone watches the show, please update the subpage when you can. If anyone can improve the formatting, that'd be pretty sweet too!

Brian Regan

This entry should probably have some info on Brian Regan.

On the first few series he was a third presenter along side Tim and Helen. He was a Liverpudlian ex-Brookside actor and often presented foreign leagues by impersonating an extreme stereotype of native of that country (including a Spanish presenter called Juan Kerr and German presenter Herr-Bang "Woof-Woof").

He seemed to vanish at the end of a series, never to be seen again or even mentioned (although I remember Tim once saying something like "we're fed up with you asking where's "he's" gone, we can't tell you", which may have been a comment about Brian).

He was also the original keeper in the car park as "The Fat Cat".

A quick google shows lots of people asking what happened to him, but no answers.

Failed "good article" nomination

This article failed good article nomination. This is how the article, as of February 15, 2007, compares against the six good article criteria:

1. Well written?: the prose is bad at times

2. Factually accurate?: pass

3. Broad in coverage?: pass - fairly long - is there anything you can cut out?

4. Neutral point of view?: pass

5. Article stability? pass

6. Images?: All need detailed sources and specific fair use rationales

Its got no references - quite a few external links though. Inline references are best. Gordon Brown's statement could do with a reference. Its listy and times too, and this could do with conversion into prose.

The auto peer review javascript program says:

• Please expand the lead to conform with guidelines at Wikipedia:Lead. The article should have an appropriate number of paragraphs as is shown on WP:LEAD, and should adequately summarize the article.^[?]

Page improvement

I'm suggesting the soccer am page needs to be improved. As it stands there is too much information and in no particular order or content. I suggest Information is put in to the relevant years so with each football season hence forth the information will be relevant to the era of the show when it was present.

This page failed it's good article nomination and needs massive changes. I am going to start with some massive cuts. There is to many lists and non relevant information. --McMahon-Man 17:21, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Lovejoy Quits

Someone's removed all the references to Lovejoy quitting. He's confirmed it in the press and on his Myspace. Why remove it?

Original presenter and ball game

Helen Chamberlain wasn't the first female presenter - Jane Hoffen was alongside Russ Williams in the beginning. Also the first game involving the fans wasn't called 'Rob Jones', it was called 'Ballseye' and the fans had to hit a target with the face of one of their local rivals on it, the second season it was the first game where the fans had to get the ball through a hole, and the game was renamed 'I Can't Believe it's not Ballseye'. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.100.164.208 (talk) 09:30, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Why soccer?

Because Soccer isn’t an Americanism. It’s an abbreviation of “Association Football” that originated in English private schools. It was a common alternative to football in the UK until the early ninties. ITV in particular used “soccer” in many of their broadcasts and it also explains the name of the other Sky programme “Soccer Saturday”. I think it became to be seen as an Americanism because they only use that word. NotMuchToSay (talk) 08:32, 30 March 2023 (UTC)

Just been watching an old EastEnders on the "old" channel, it was series 16 ep 8, and it looked like a very young Tubes in there. Looked in the end credits to see if it was him, but his character never came up. Tried looking on t'internet but couldn't find anything. Does anyone know?
