I propose to merge African black soap into Soap. I think that the content in the African black soap article can easily be explained in the context of Soap, and the Soap article is of a reasonable size that the merging of African black soap will not cause any problems as far as article size is concerned. - After a quick look at both articles, I find this reasonable. MaxwellMolecule (talk) 17:13, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- Do not merge. Both articles are notable in themselves. African black soap is a specific soap of its own, just as Nabulsi soap is a distinguishable soap of its own.Davidbena (talk) 18:56, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

Vegetable oils
The section on 15th-18th centuries refers to soap made from vegetable oils, such as olive oil. I believe olive oil is not vegetable, and that it would have been too expensive, if not impossible, to produce vegetable oils for commercial soap manufacture at that time. - Sorry, I meant seed oil, which is difficult to extract - olive is a fruit oil. Shtove (talk) 22:09, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
- Ah, OK. I imagine palm oil, almond oil, and sesame oil have been articles of commerce around the Mediterranean along with olive oil since antiquity or so. Anything in the article need fixing? Just plain Bill (talk) 00:06, 27 August 2021 (UTC)

Ancient Babylon?
What does the claim mean when it says that soap was recorded in ancient Babylon in 2800 BC? There was no mention of Babylon existing until maybe 2300 BC, although people were living in the area before that, what exactly is meant there is record of soap in 2800 BC in Babylon?
