think I've read somewhere that smoothbore is needed when you fire a projective at high speed since the rifling will rip the projectile to screds and/or because there will be less barrel wear— Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.226.10.209 (talk) 14:48, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
