The result of the move request was: Move Smithers (name) to Smithers and Smithers to Smithers (disambiguation). Smithers (surname) will be a redirect to the basename. Cúchullain t/c 13:50, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Smithers (name)Smithers (surname)Smithers (surname) currently confusingly redirects to Smith; yet we have a surname article for Smithers, so this should be moved to that title, to indicate the scope of this article, as surname articles should use "surname", while "name" covers names that are both surnames and given names, and "given name" is for given names. This article does not include any given name variants. -- 70.51.200.101 (talk) 07:12, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Need for further move of this page to Smithers (disambiguation)

[edit]

I was looking for "Smithers, British Columbia," entered "Smithers" as the search term, and was directed to this page, where there was no mention of the town. I've added a connection between Sir Alfred Smithers and the town that was named after him, but I really think that this page should be part of an expanded disambiguation page for "Smithers." While the town of Smithers is only 5,000, it is an important regional centre, so lots of people may search for it using "Smithers" as a search term. Any discussion of this before I propose the move?
