[edit]Skaneateles Lake (elev. 863. ft) is not "the highest of the lakes." Nearby Otisco Lake (elev.1191 ft.) is higher. Text revised accordingly. Phmalo 20:28, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
Correction: elevation of Otisco Lake (above) is erroneous on DeLorme topo map. USGS topo and other sources give it as 788 feet. Text returned to previous version.

Correction: a Lightning is NOT a sailing dinghy. They are about 19 feet long, with centerboard. Definitely not a dinghy. Owlhunter 16:56, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Reversion of edits on fish species
[edit]Ajr2310, I saw you removed my citation for fish species, attributed a Angler's Report instead of the publisher, didn't include a citation to the report, took out my comment on fish types, and added back your tally of the species, with your edit summary left blank. While I can certainly see the removal of fish types as a matter of preference (I'm fine with that), I'm puzzled by the rest of the changes. While the contour map I cited was also included in the Angler's Diary you attributed, the "report" is very informal, and the map's inclusion seems to have been simply as a helpful addendum, not created for the report, or based on any data collected by the Angler's Diary program (indeed, the spreadsheets of data collected mention only the game fish). If you were to cite one or the other, I see no reason to cite the Angler's Diary with the contour map on the last page, over just citing the contour map. I also find your wording of "thirteen species" may give the perception that this is the total count of fish species in the lake, rather than a list of some of the species present. The map doesn't clarify this one way or the other. Unless a source is found that is specific on that question, I think it would be better to omit the number of species, and just indicate that the listed species are among those present in the lake. (My guess is that there are more species; the list seems to limit itself to larger fish, while I'd assume there are some minnows as well, but that's just speculation). Fish Species
[edit]The list on this page is less than complete... the NYS DEC website gives a more thorough list.
