These all turn up in searching the ODNB database for "six preachers", so there is some material to create articles and prima facie notability. Charles Matthews (talk) 20:04, 17 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Early Six Preachers

[edit]

In 1542, the others besides Scory and Lancelot Ridley were apparently Robert Serles, Michael Drune, Edmund Shether and Thomas Brooke.[1] In 1547 they are given as Thomas Becon, Nicholas Ridley, Lancelot Ridley, Richard Turner, Richard Beaseley, and John Joseph.[2] Charles Matthews (talk) 08:51, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Derek Ingram-Hill gives the following: 'The first Six Preachers were all appointed simultaneously under the charter of 8th April, 1541. They were Lancelot Ridley, Michael (or John) Drum, Thomas Brooke (or Broke), John Scory, Robert Searles and Edmund Shether.' (The Six Preachers of Canterbury Cathedral, 1982, p. 11). Nicholas Ridley was Bishop of London, not a Six Preacher. Richard Turner was appointed in 1550, according to D.I-H (p.19). Richard Beseley was appointed in 1552 (p.25). John Joseph is not listed by D. I-H. at all. Vidoue (talk) 16:34, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
