Lack of references
[edit]I think this page needs more references Kathodonnell (talk) 01:17, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Kindly refrain from simply reinstating a reverted edit without discussing it here first (See WP:BRD). The fact that the website is "sponsored" (whatever that means) by the comune does not make it a valid EL with value in an encyclopedia. In my view, this clearly fails WP:EL. The purpose of wikipedia articles is not to globally advertise services a town offers, nor is it to serve as a tourist guide. Since this is the only edit ever made by this user it might also raise questions of WP:COI.Drow69 (talk) 10:19, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
Comments on the article
[edit]1. The box says Sirmiù is Lombard but the first line above the contents section says Sirmiù is Brescian. I do understand Brescia is part of Lombardy but the double classification does not sound right to me.
2. The history section says "Around the year 1000, Sirmione was probably a free comune, but fell into the hands of the Scaliger in the early 13th century. Mastino I della Scala was probably the founder of the castle." The main sight section says "The building of this complex started in 1277 by Mastino della Scala." Clearly, this is both an hypothesis and a confirmation. the two are mutually exclusive.
3. "The contemporary wooden statue of the Madonna Enthroned is also of special interest."
I am trying to understand what is "contemporary" and how "special" the statue is. The sentence, alone, does not provide useful information.
4. Blessed Benedetta Bianchi Porro died on 23 January 1964. I am trying to understand why the exact date needs to be provided.
