Proposal for a change of citation style
[edit]Dear wikipedian Chrisdoyleorwell, Lord Cornwallis (who graciously gave me a blanket permission on 17 February 2023), or any other interested party that I may have missed. I would like to extend the article but find that the present citation style is too informal and lacks consistency. This article is rated Start and has 2 citations of the style <ref>citation template</ref> or <ref>free text</ref>. I propose to use "short" descriptions in the text ({{Sfn}}) and "long" ones using templates (e.g. {{Cite book}}) in the list of sources like in the recent FA Frederick the Great.
As prescribed in WP:CITEVAR, I formally ask your permission. I hope to obtain a sufficient number of approvals, but in absence of objections, I will assume that I can go ahead after a month, even if none or very few people replied within this period. I would convert the existing citations to the proposed style before any further additions. Respectfully yours Johannes Schade (talk) 12:00, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
