Peer Review of Article for Education Assignment

[edit]

Vision:

  • Inaccurate choice of heading: “Vision” – section does not talk about the vision of the green plan but just the organisations involved in it. “Stakeholders” might be a better option.
  • Good use of tables. Concise and easy to read.

Sub Sections: Format of sections (water, land, etc) is not coherent. Should standardize if each section should have an introductory paragraph and follow throughout the article.

Air:

  • Under “Air”, some of the schemes mentioned under “Education” are not educational but are simply stricter implementation of regulations. A separate section can be made for those schemes instead. In fact there are not any specific educational schemes mentioned which is undertaken by MOE there so the education section might be a little redundant.

Energy:

  • (Household appliances are labelled according to their energy efficiency levels, encouraging customers to buy energy efficient appliances and to reduce utility cost. These energy labels are part of the Green Label Scheme. Energy-efficiency benchmarks and incentives are gradually introduced for offices, hotels, encouraging the private sector to be more energy efficient

To reduce fuel consumption, members of the public are encouraged to take Singapore's well-connected public transport instead of private vehicles.)

Highlighted line in red should move in front together with the green label scheme since they are both about daily uses of energy. Transportation seems to fall under a different category.

Water:

  • Plans made by PUB is not part of Green Plan 2015 since they were targets set for 2010 and 2012. Could make it clearer that this are past initiatives from previous green plans or briefly cover if they had hit the targets.

Public Health:

  • For highlighting the severity of dengue in Singapore, it could be backed up with statistics such as how many percentage of people contract dengue fever annually.

Nature Conservation:

  • (With the promotion of Sungei Buloh Nature Park & Labrador Nature Park to Nature Reserves in 2001, Singapore now had four nature reserves under the legal protection of the National Parks Act.) Now has?
  • Parks are short and concise which makes it easier to read with links attached for readers who are interested to read on more. Good use of external links!

Overall, article seems to be talking about Singapore’s Green Plans across the years and not just 2012. “Singapore Green Plans/Efforts” might be a more suitable heading for the article. You can also consider having another section “External links” which includes the link to the official website for the green plan or their Facebook face for those interested. Nevertheless, it was an interesting read and I got to know more about Singapore’s green efforts which even I as a Singaporean was not aware of. Good job!
