Family information in a biography of a living person
[edit]I have removed the unreferenced addition of the name of his son and the child's exact birth date for two reasons per WP:BLP
- Privacy - do not give the exact birth date of a minor unless it has been widely published in reliable sources.
- Reliable sources are required for all personal information. Fan sites, blogs, forums etc. are not considered reliable sources for Wikipedia biographies of living persons.
Note that another editor had removed this information once before. Please do not re-add it unless or until, it can be referenced to a reliable third-party source. Voceditenore (talk) 12:18, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Dates of awards
[edit]Dates of these should be added: "won Friends of Liceu Opera Award for Best Recital Artist; won the Gramophone Award Best of Category (Recital) for his debut recital album Tales of Opera".--Felix Folio Secundus (talk) 10:32, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Role list and columns
[edit]Could someone explain why "soft coding" {{Div col}} for columns is being used instead of {{col-2}} ? It is not read by many versions of the Internet Explorer browser and shows up as a humongous single column. This list is not going to have a lot of additions to it that would require manual updating of the column break which is the only advantage I can see for soft coding. I'm minded to fork the list to its own page anyway. We've done this with several opera singers who have lengthy role lists and it allows for greater annotation, i.e. date and opera house where the role was first sung, whether it was a concert or staged performance or sung only on disc, etc. Voceditenore (talk) 12:41, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thoroughly agree that SK is well past the stage of adding roles by the handful, and that this list will be relatively stable for something about a still-working performer. The list having its own page I think should only be done if we were prepared to put in the effort of giving performance dates, companies etc. Given the archive of into that we can take from www.SK.info, that shouldn't be hard almost-instinct 12:52, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
- I was proposing this for sometime in the future after the extra information is in place and mocking it up in a sandbox first. Voceditenore (talk) 12:59, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
- Would you do it as a table, or merely arrange bullet points under each item in the list? Or have proper prose? I think a table would end up combining a lot of blank space and with a lot of info crammed into corners. I think proper prose might be good. eg under Morales in Carmen: "only one production in 198x, whilst a member of Hamburg State Opera" or whatever. Whereas, another role might be described "in SK's repertoire from 1988-1997; 35 performances in 7 productions, most notably at Xxxx Opera" Would it be called "List of roles performed by Simon Keenlyside"? almost-instinct 16:05, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
