Contradiction about his marriage
[edit]'His first wife was Carol Thompson... they were divorced .. Since then, Simon has remarried to Sarah'.
Sarah? Carol? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Egressio (talk • contribs) 12:45, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
No contradiction; the term remarried simply indicates that he has married again, not that he has married the same woman again. Twilytgardnfaery (talk) 19:41, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
However, continuing on this subject... nobody has a source for when he remarried? I just culled through Pictures of You to no avail. Twilytgardnfaery (talk) 18:13, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
Simon’s departure from the band in 2021
[edit]I believe reference to Simon Gallup having left The Cure in 2021 should be removed. It is not clear he has left the band and the indications are that he in fact hasn’t. The story of him leaving started with a post on his Facebook account. This has since been removed. Newspapers ran a story saying it appeared he had left the group but this was based uniquely on his now deleted post and no news source was able to get official confirmation. - The section is based on what sources reported. The story is that he made a claim that he has left. So that's what is reported in the article. His Facebook account is not the source. The third party news article reporting that he did that is the source. It's a valid retelling of what happened. There is also information detailing that he removed the post and that the band hasn't made a statement. So both sides of the story are already represented. If and when he or the band state that he is still a band member, that information will also be added to the section, but the story of him posting of his departure will also still remain. The references to his actions will not be removed because it's a report the events reported by various news reputable new sources, whether he remains a member in the end or not. As of now, all of the reported stories, to date, are represented and backed up with sources and citations. This is how Wikipedia functions.
- As far as the statement "indications are that he in fact hasn’t" this is untrue. Removing the post does not immediately indicate that he has remained in the band. That could happen for a number of reasons. His legal representation could have advised him to do so. Whatever possible recording contract he has could prohibit him from using social media to make announcements like that. Maybe he just didn't want to deal with the influx of feedback it surely brought. These are all valid reasons for the post to be pulled. Until any of them are confirmed, including the possibility that he decided to stay in the band, we go only with what is supported by the sources. Wikipedia doesn't make assumptions based on what it looks like might have happened or what has happened in similar situations in the past. NJZombie (talk) 16:04, 11 September 2021 (UTC)
Equipment??
[edit]Some non-fan-fiction should be inserted, especially about the equipment he uses live with The Cure. The sound of his instrument is remarkable. 2003:C0:DF16:C000:54E:2021:324E:6BEB (talk) 06:55, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
