SimGrid has been available to the research scientific community for more than 10 years. It is a major tool in the domain of large-scale scientific research. It is free software registered under LGPL. In the wikipedia at least one article explicitly reference this SimGrid page (see Chord_(peer-to-peer)). I have updated the page with a lot of references. I strongly disagree that it should be permanently deleted. (post was by an IP... in Jan 2012)

It meets WP:NOTE. The presentation is somewhat oversold, and the history is way too detailed and personal, but the article does not deserve deletion by any measure. History2007 (talk) 19:41, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ambiguous Wording

[edit]

Hello fellow Wikipedians. While reading this article, I found quite a few ambiguous and vague mentions of the word "It" in the text. For example, in the section titled "APIs," the text reads as follows:

"The framework supports multiple programming languages and operating systems through its APIs. It can analyze scheduling strategies, resource allocation policies, fault tolerance mechanisms, and other aspects of distributed computing."

I was curious as to what "It" is referring to. Is it referring to APIs, the programming languages, the operating systems, or the framework of SimGrid?

Furthermore, later in the text, a sentence states that "SimGrid is used in various fields such as cloud computing, high-performance computing, grid computing, and peer-to-peer networking. It can be used to identify bottlenecks and assess system efficiency as part of performance analysis and optimization."

Again, the word "It" leaves an extremely broad question as to what the word could be referring to. Is it referring to cloud computing, peer-to-peer networking, or something else?

In conclusion, I feel like this question needs to be addressed to give the reader a clearer understanding of what the sentences in this page are trying to convey. By resolving this issue, the overall reading experience for readers could be enhanced. TheGreatGolfer (talk) 11:57, 14 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that it is referring to the framework, that being SimGrid. I didn't walk away from copyediting this article last night that satisfied, so I definitely agree with you that it ought to be addressed.
It's mentioned already but the text itself is either auto generated or subjective, so it might be better to rewrite it overall, although I'm not sure. Breijz (talk) 16:02, 16 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
