SEMCAD draft page

[edit]

Response to Comment: This reads like a promotion and is not written in an encyclopedic tone. Utopes (talk / cont) 07:47, 9 September 2023 (UTC) This draft is for wiki-linking to List of computer simulation software. The description of SEMCAD does not sound more "promotional" than other entries in the list. The SEMCAD citations are to independent research papers not written by engineers at SPEAG. Please check some of the other entries in the list and reconsider acceptance. PLBounds (talk) 15:46, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@PLBounds: Hello! The issue I brought up with the "promotional wording" was moreso with how the lead was written. It was a short block of text that talked about the features of SEMCAD; many such drafts in this form are flagged as being possible advertisements, so these types of articles tend to require longer incubation.
When it comes to articles about products, a presence of newsmedia coverage is often sought in order to establish notability, and the sources in this article at first appeared to be passing mentions that the softward was used by the authors, which most software is. After re-assessing the references, though, it does appear that the coverage the authors give of the subject is a lot more significant than I initially gave it credit for. Reference #2 & 8 do not mention it (to my awareness), and Reference #4, #5, and #7 only mention it once; just passing mentions there. But, References #1 and #3 (and likely #9) do give significant enough coverage that notability can probably be ascertained.
As for the article sounding promotional and/or like an advertisement, its existence was hindered by being a block of text. Now that an infobox is present, I do think this article can last with further refinements, so I'm willing to send it out. Utopes (talk / cont) 03:57, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! PLBounds (talk) 07:28, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I will check my references and remove any that do not refer to the use of SEMCAD. I will also be in touch with my contact at SPEAG about images to include in both the article and the infobox. PLBounds (talk) 07:34, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
