Silvia Abril Fernandez was born in Mataró, Barcelona on April 10, 1971. She is a Spanish television and movie actress, as well as a comedian. Her acting passion started when she was just in high school, and she has been pursuing it ever since with jobs in various sectors of the entertainment industry. The fulfillment she says to have found in this industry is based on how she feels when she makes people laugh, which she has identified as addicting for her. Additionally, she feels proud that she has been able to represent Latina women in the film industry, where very few are present in anything other than minor roles, or cast as hired help in a script.
She has been working in the entertainment industry since 2003, and her most well known work is Caiga Quien Caiga and Spanish Movie. However, she has also done the voices of some animated movies, such as her role of Shrek’s daughter in Shrek 2. She prefers to work in comedic roles in either television or the cinema, as she finds this a therapeutic way to deal with the more difficult areas of life. She is married to Andreu Buenafuente, and together they have a child names Joana who was born November 29, 2012. She does a lot of appearances with her husband, who acts as the partner in some of her comedic appearances, and she has started to make a name for herself in the parody genre.
At the moment, she has amassed a filmography of 32 individual productions, as well as multiple appearances in other shows. The majority of the films she does is in her native tongue of Spanish, but she has also made films and made appearances in English speaking productions as well.
