Images removed, why?
[edit]@Hike395 could you explain this edit [1] better? I see the images have been removed but I don't understand the reason in the edit description. Thanks! {{u|Gtoffoletto}} talk 09:08, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Gtoffoletto: This edit was motivated by the image gallery guideline, which states
In articles that have several images, they are typically placed individually near the relevant text (see MOS:IMAGELOCATION). Wikipedia is not an image repository. A gallery is not a tool to shoehorn images into an article, and a gallery consisting of an indiscriminate collection of images of the article subject should generally either be improved in accordance with the below paragraphs or moved to Wikimedia Commons.
- The previous version of the article had more than half of its area taken up by images and image galleries. This was (to me) clearly an indiscriminate collection of images. Further, the photograph of Teseo Tesei violated the guideline against sandwiching text between a photograph and an infobox.
- What I did was move all of the photographs to a new Commons gallery where they are nicely presented. There is now a link to the Commons gallery in the External Links section. I also just restored the photograph of Teseo Tesei
as a centered image above the References section(although we can select a different photograph, if you wish). - Hope this explains the edit. — hike395 (talk) 12:17, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks, very clear now! {{u|Gtoffoletto}} talk 14:51, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
