Signatories

[edit]

The following talk is copied from User:M.K/Laikinas

This is going slowly since there are thunderstorms going on here, causing occasional disconnections. Question: Would it be possible to have more details about the social backgrounds of the signatories, apart from the noble families, since this is mentioned in the lead? Novickas 13:31, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Currently it is everything I got about this issue. Thanks for copy edit! M.K. 17:30, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was planning to do some more cp-edit today or tomorrow...if it's OK with you. Also a little more research, altho it looks like you got all the online stuff already, but you never know, sometimes a few more minutes unearths a new and golden reference. Later, Novickas 17:59, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Maybe you have some ideas how to rename those headlines "Activities before the Act of Independence" , to some more better practical? M.K. 12:12, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, no ideas about that just now. The thing is, this article kind of breaks new ground. The closest prototype

among GAs is List of signatories of the United States Constitution, but that's just a list. The title, tho - I'd like to see it renamed "Signatories of the Lithuanian Act of Independence (1918)" in case sometime there is a similar article for 1990. Another thing: I assumed the Lithuanian Christian Democratic Party was conservative based on this [1] even tho the actual word conservative is not in there, and they are the modern-day version of the party. Your thoughts? Congrats on the DYK! Novickas 14:47, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks Renata. About the name - a google "signatories to" site:.edu brings up quite a few entries, and would eliminate the double use of of, which is a little awkward-sounding. How about "Signatories to the Lithuanian Act of Independence". Iki, Novickas 13:51, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
No prob :) Hm, title... I don't really like "Lithuanian" but I guess it would work, because "Signatories to the Act of Independence of Lithuania" is too bulky. But at least then it would macth the title of Act of Independence of Lithuania. Don't know, you decide, our residing English expert :P Renata 17:31, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, Novickas and Renata, nice work and input. Maybe this piece is ready for mainspace? BTW, is it qualifies to WP:FL? M.K. 18:41, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, Signatories to the Act of Independence of Lithuania is bulky, especially if "List of" is added to it, but it seems the best to me. Definitely ready for mainspace, but where? As a featured list, it has a lot more info than List of signatories of the United States Constitution, but we need Renata's input about where it fits best, as a list or whatever. A similar article for the US Declaration of Independence would be nice, and maybe someone would then be inspired to write that. Novickas 15:56, 20 August 2007 (UTC) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Novickas (talkcontribs).
Or maybe name it just Signatories of Lithuania (1918)? M.K. 13:01, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Moved out

[edit]

Ok, I moved the page with its proper history. So now you can rename the article if you don't like that name. But I think it is the best title. "List of" is not really neded and the title is alredy too long. "Signatories of Lithuania" is confusing (nobody signed Lithuania). At least now the title matches Act's main article.

Thanks for move. The current title is good to me. M.K. 15:14, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Date sort

[edit]

The dates don't sort properly...Novickas 15:19, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Could you explain more? They do sort perfectly fine for me. In fact, because of sorting I made the dates in 2007-08-22 format. Maybe you have some preferences that automatically change date appearance? Dunno, thinking out loud. Renata 16:24, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It seems that setting a preference for the second option, "16:12, January 15, 2001", is the one that doesn't work right. A headscratcher. Novickas 16:48, 22 August 2007 (UTC) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Novickas (talkcontribs).

Ready for WP:FL?

[edit]

Just wondering do we ready to nominate this article as WP:FLC? M.K. 18:49, 30 August 2007 (UTC)p.s. also just wondering maybe we should colour table in different colors according to Signatories political dependence? M.K. 18:52, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think coloring is needed. I think it is ready for FLC. the only other thing that kinda bothers me is the Lithuanian Scholarly Assembly... There should be more connection to the signatories or it should be removed. Renata 03:36, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, will look around for more on LSA. M.K. 12:50, 31 August 2007 (UTC) P.S. Ok, I removed LSA. M.K. 14:49, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Vote: definitely ready. I agree with R. about the colors. The date sort problem - will leave a note at what seems like an appropriate page, but since it works for most date preferences, that shouldn't hold it up. Novickas 14:31, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
