However, indonesia is planning to commission 6 more ships, along with 190 more if the program succeds.

Indonesia considers C-802

[edit]

Indonesia evaluates C-802 David C Isby Correspondent

Indonesia is considering arming its future quartet of Sigma-4-class missile frigates with Chinese-built C-802 anti-ship missiles.

The four warships, which are being constructed in the Netherlands, were originally planned to be armed with MBDA MM40 Exocets.

Problems with securing export approval for the frigates' Exocet MM40 anti-ship and Mistral surface-to-air missile armament have already been reported.

Indonesia is understood to have procured and evaluated a single C-802 system as part of a study of alternative anti-ship missiles.

While it seems unlikely that the Chinese missile will be adopted for the Sigma-4 class in place of the MM40, the C-802 is being considered along with other designs as a potential anti-ship weapon for future Indonesian surface-combatants.

The Indian-Russian BrahMos and the Russian Yakhont (SS-N-26) have also been identified as possible alternatives, along with a plan to procure more Exocets.

Dutch OPV

[edit]

Two times it's claimed that the Dutch OPV's are variants of the Sigma design. This is not true: the Sigma is designed by Damen, the OPV by the navy's engineering bureau (Martech). Both ships are of completely different design, measurements, electronics and weapons. Can I see some source that the OPV's are basically Sigma's ? RobbyD (talk) 17:43, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request its removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to 2 external links on Sigma-class corvette. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Change the page name

[edit]

I believe it would be better to change the page name from Sigma-class corvette to either Sigma-class or Sigma-class design. The reason for this is that the Sigma-class is neither only corvettes nor frigates, the design can be resized into both types of ships. Therefore naming it "Sigma-class corvette" is wrong in my opinion. I would be curious to other peoples opinion on this. Dragnadh (talk) 20:49, 2 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Info-box Specifications

[edit]

The specifications listed in the info-box seem to pertain only to a single variation of the design. I think it would be better to depict the range (for example, range of lengths available, options for armament) rather than a single specific ship. ames of many USS manly USS GYATT RIZZI AND OHIOS

[edit]

As a man who uses Wikipedia a lot for research for manly boats i have fear that these "trolls putting manly memes and other "funny" like there are fears of this getting towards a large problem where slang is used. and then its vandalized maybe we should put the USS and other boats that could be in this reference protected temporally until storm dies down and a lot of these maybe target so hopefully we can get staff preventing trolls. we are website of honesty and info to masses and we dont want that reputation to be destroyed forever so maybe we can contact staff. 92.233.69.158 (talk) 12:11, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I totally agree. I'm a naval guy that likes to look up random ships and don't want to be bombarded by "sigma Ohio rizz skibdi" children. Also disrespectful that by vandalizing USS Gyatt they're disrespecting a US Marine died in Guadalcanal... AviatorYT (talk) 14:29, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah. The Gen Alpha vandalism is very annoying. I put a note to not add any Gen Alpha slang to this article but the edit got reverted and I got a message on my talk page to stop the vandalism myself... 24.115.255.37 (talk) 19:55, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
