Notability & Resubmission

[edit]

Thanks for providing feedback on the initial draft, I have removed the current image from Library and Archives Canada as similar images have been deemed non free-use works, see: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Images_from_Library_and_Archives_Canada:

I've listed the WP:Three best sources that establish notability on the subject:

1. Reference 4: Government of Canada, Canadian Heritage: Artists in Canada, meets WP:ANYBIO criteria 3: "The person has an entry in a country's standard national biographical dictionary (e.g. the Dictionary of National Biography)." The referenced database is comprised of up to 25 basic biographical attributes (such as Birth, Death) of 42,7000 artists in Canada. This basic entry provides information on the Galleries — which inputted it — that house archived materials on the artist:

1. Art Gallery of Ontario
The "Canadian Artists Documentation Files", found in the Art Gallery of Ontario has information on 12,000 artists and is stated to be "managed as a permanent information resource". This might meet WP:Artist crtieria 4(d): "been represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums"
2. Artexete
3. National Gallery of Canada - Library and Archives

2. Reference 10: Publications and Research - AGNS (Art Gallery of Nova Scotia). This reference establishes that a biographical book, written by John Murchie, was published on Haase by the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. This distinguishes Haas from other WP:ROTM artists, proving notability beyond the average coverage for similar artists.

3. Reference 9: The Life and work of Siegfried Haase, extends upon the previous reference, providing information that the publication was on exhibition at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia from 23 Apr. - 12 June 1994. This might meet WP:Artist crtieria 4(b): "been a substantial part of a significant exhibition" (by virtue of being published by and being displayed on exhibition at the gallery) and 4(d): "been represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums".

@Cabrils Let me know if these WP:Three sources suffice the requirements for notability. Grinkelton-wp (talk) 05:17, 21 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Grinkelton-wp Good enough for me, well done and thanks. Cabrils (talk) 05:50, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
