[edit]Could be a good idea to start with the introduction of each specific offensive. In any way, thanks for this article creation. Much needed. Yug (talk) 15:16, 21 January 2017 (UTC)
End date
[edit]LightandDark2000, regarding your edit summary comments. The Battle of Stalingrad is about the BATTLE, of which the siege was one part of it. Also, the end date of the Battle of Stalingrad is according to cited sources. This article was specifically about the siege, which cited sources clearly state ended in early September. If we really wanted, as you said, an article formatted to fit the format used for the Battle of Stalingrad, then we would have to create an article titled Battle of Deir ez-Zor (2011-17), since the battle for the city actually started way back in 2011. And within the context of this battle would be: Deir ez-Zor clashes (2011–14), this article about the siege, and the subsequent Battle of Deir ez-Zor (September–November 2017) and 2017 Euphrates Crossing offensive. I would not have any objection to an overall article of this kind. As for the Siege of Kobanî article, as you remember, there were several editors that objected to the end date being set a month and a half after the siege of Kobani had ended, but I supported you then because sources cited the events surrounding the siege starting with the initial ISIL offensive that captured all of the surrounding villages and thus it should have been considered to had ended with the recapture of those villages (even though the date was set by us and not by the sources). And also, at the time, I was in favor, if needed, to rename the article to Kobanî campaign and that the siege of the town itself be a sub-article within that one. And I still have no objections to that. EkoGraf (talk) 12:54, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
