General inadequacy
[edit]I looked up this article because I wanted more information on the subject than was available in a recent (somewhat confused) history of the Crimean campaign, but it told me less than I knew already, and less than is available in other parts of Wikipedia (e.g. that he was a member of Palmerston's first cabinet as Secretary of State for the colonies, until forced to resign because of his Russian wife).
It seems odd to label him so definitely as a conservative MP at a time when party boundaries were so fluid. When he was elected for the southern division of Wiltshire, his fellow MP for the division, Benett (sic) was a sort of liberal (but in favour of the Corn laws) independent. --MWLittleGuy (talk) 22:38, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
Ireland
[edit]It seems this person had extensive interests in Ireland, most prominently in Dublin if the streetnames are any indicator. Sydney Parade etc, Herbert Park etc, all the Pembrokes are named after him directly or after a close relative. 79.97.173.59 (talk) 12:35, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
Family
[edit]In the last two minutes I have edited two articles on English families, to put the list of children in birth order. They were give boys first folowed by girls, each sex in birth order, but the entire list not in birth order. This is very odd to me. I have not seen that in anyplace else. Am I missing some style convention? Nick Beeson (talk) 13:35, 14 January 2018 (UTC)
