[edit]Not only is the tone of some of this article unencyclopaedic ("things changed pretty dramatically... asked if she fancied having a go" etc) but parts are lifted from the BBC webpage http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/breakfast/presenters/1782305.stm -- which is "copyvio". Perhaps the editor who added these bits would care to do some rephrasing. Flapdragon 15:34, 28 October 2005 (UTC)
- No takers? This article is a blatant copyvio and nearly everything will have to be blanked if it isn't reworded. Flapdragon 15:48, 4 November 2005 (UTC)
- I've just done a bit of a re-write. I'm not sure if it's up to wikipedia standards but it's certainly better than an obvious copyvio. I also took out the stuff about her being Welsh. Apart from her name and the fact that she presents on BBC Wales, I can't find any evidence that she is actually Welsh (though she mentioned on this morning's Breakfast that she was learning the language). She must be Welsh by heritage if born in Eastbourne (and her very English accent would suggest that she wasn't brought up in Wales). I'll try and do a bit more research when I can to see if I can find out exactly how Welsh she is and whether or not it warrants a mention in the article. Crisso 14:49, 17 November 2005 (UTC)
- According to [1] she has an "All Welsh-born family", so I've stuck a mention of it at the end of the article. Crisso 15:12, 17 November 2005 (UTC)
Good stuff. Flapdragon 20:05, 17 November 2005 (UTC)
Not born in 1968
[edit]Miss Williams mentioned in an October 2005 edition of Breakfast that she was in her 40s, so that rules out 1968. It seems the only source that gives this date is IMDB which is essentially only a reliable source for dates concerning the film community (like Wikipedia anyone can contribute to IMDB, so there is much room for error). She can't be very far into her forties (I'm guessing that she was born between 1962-64) so I've replaced 1968 with c. 1963. Hopefully if I keep watching Breakfast she might eventually give away her actual age! Crisso 11:12, 4 November 2005 (UTC)
- My morning viewing seems to have paid off! Actor Simon O'Brien was a guest on this morning's programme to discuss his role in Grange Hill. Sian commented how she and Simon had discovered after talking in the green room that they were the same age. According to his official website O'Brien was born in June 1965, making him 40 - as Sian had mentioned in October that she was already in her 40s, she must be 40 now and 41 on her next birthday (28th Nov.). So all arrows seem to point to 1964. Crisso 17:31, 11 November 2005 (UTC)
- I was in the library this afternoon flicking through a copy of Debrett's People of Today, a source I've been using for DOBs for the last couple of years, and who should I find when in the W section? Sian Mary Williams. All that fuss about finding out her real age and her details were in Debretts all the time, and I never thought to look her up! I was right about 1964 at any rate. Llanelli/Eastbourne
[edit]In what sense is SW "originally from Llanelli" if she was born in Eastbourne? Born in Eastbourne and brough up in Llanelli? Flapdragon 15:41, 4 November 2005 (UTC)
Pregnancy
[edit]The current profile says she's pregnant with her 4th child in November 2008... but looking at the BBC News this morning (just before Christmas) she's huge! Surely it's earlier than Nov 2008.. or is it one big baby?! :-D —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.192.124.233 (talk) 08:44, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
- Info last updated in November 2008, that is all. --Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 11:27, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Not Welsh
[edit]If she was born in London, England, raised in Eastbourne, England, and has an English accent, how is she Welsh? I see here that this has been an issue with this article since 2005. I've put "British". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.254.217.235 (talk) 20:45, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
- Perhaps you should take that up with her. In 2010, Willams said, “it's not about where you're born, it's about where generations of your family come from. I can now proudly say I'm Welsh, it doesn't matter that I was born in Paddington, I'm Welsh”. Williams self-identifies as Welsh, which is what her article should say. Daicaregos (talk) 09:29, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
- So she's English-born Welsh. One cannot gainsay the fact that she was born in England. Richard Avery (talk) 08:13, 28 November 2013 (UTC)
- Williams was born in Paddington, London, to Welsh parents, and raised in Eastbourne, East Sussex
Where is the contradiction'? re- "the fact that she was born in England"? — | Gareth Griffith-Jones |The WelshBuzzard| — 08:33, 28 November 2013 (UTC)- The Griff Rhys-Jones wiki page is a better model, though he was born in Cardiff he was raised in Sussex and Essex and is shown as British.82.9.70.201 (talk) 19:10, 20 January 2017 (UTC)

Universities
[edit]At present she is categorized as being an alumni of Liverpool John Moores University, however no information is given as to what and when she studied there. Should this be removed or is there information on her JMU studies? TexTucker (talk) 16:12, 7 August 2017 (UTC)
Nationality: Welsh?
[edit]It’s not possible to have Welsh nationality, the same way as it’s impossible to have English nationality— you can’t hold a Welsh or English passport so her nationality is British 85.255.232.41 (talk) 02:32, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
