Separate into several articles?
[edit]This is a very brief article that attempts to talk about several different types of landforms. It seems that attempting to describe Barrier islands, Sand banks, shoals, and Sandbars with this same article isn't very informative. A barrier island (e.g. Ocracoke is in reality a very different landmass than, say, the Dogger Bank. I don't have enough knowledge about these landforms to properly set up different articles. However I would propose a separate article for:
- Barrier island
- Sandbar or sandbank
- Shoal

I agree with Bacondero completely. This article confuses and conflates a variety of different submarine and subaerial landsforms Barrier islands, sandbar or sandbank, and shoals are quite different entities that each deserve different articles. Paul H. (talk) 21:35, 3 December 2015 (UTC)

Added the word "duver" as an byname of shoal
[edit]http://www.proto-english.org/dover.pdf
Can someone please move the first paragraph in the Formation section?
[edit]Can anyone justify putting a paragraph about "Wave Shoaling" in the section on Formation? As it stands now, that paragraph does not refer to the Formation of a Shoal. Just because they share a common term "Shoal" doesn't mean one should be described within the page for the other, there should simply be a link. Rwillfrd (talk) 17:59, 28 March 2020 (UTC)
