Roman Catholic Church

[edit]

The Exorcism against Satan and the apostate angels is a powerful prayer of the Roman Catholic Church that mentions Christ as the one who Vícit Leo de tríbu Júda, rádix Dávid.

According to the genealogy of Jesus, king David of Israel was one of the direct ancestors of Jesus and belonged as Him to the tribe of Judah. Hence, Jesus is called Leo de tríbu Júda, rádix Dávid. The lion was the holy animal and the symbol of the Tribe of Judah. The sceptre is referred to the king of Israel, while the law-giver to the man who transmitted the Mosaic law. Even if he wasn't an ancestor of Jesus, he was admitted to appear near Him during the divine transubstantiation of Mount Tabor. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.223.69.88 (talk) 20:32, 29 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
