[edit]I have to dispute the accuracy of the following statement:
Shellharbour Village is undergoing extensive development with many new retail outlets and units being constructed.
I go to Shellharbour regularly and I wouldn't say the construction of one new building in the village could be called "extensive development". Everything else looks pretty much the same as it has since the 1980's when I went there as a child.

- There are significant changes on Addison St since the 1980's - how about this: "The main street (Addison St) is undergoing extensive development with many new retail outlets and units being constructed." - Borofkin 03:49, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Shellharbour as a Suburb of Wollongong
[edit]In this article Shellharbour should not be considered a separate city. The surrounding area is administered by the City of Shellharbour, but that is an LGA and covered by its own article. The suburb of Shellharbour is part of the continuous Wollongong urban area that extends from Clifton to Shell Cove, and as such should be regarded as part of Wollongong. For a discussion on what a city is and is not refer to Talk:List of cities in Australia. See also Template:New South Wales cities.
I propose that this article be rewritten to address Shellharbour as a suburb, and probably merged with Shellharbour Village.
It should also be noted that Shellharbour Village is not an official suburb.
Any objections or comments ?

- Um, I think I agree, except that most of the information in this article should be moved to City of Shellharbour -- What I think should happen is that this article should be merged with City of Shellharbour, and then Shellharbour Village, New South Wales should be renamed to Shellharbour, New South Wales. Do you have a source for the correct name of Shellharbour Village? - Borofkin (talk) 23:17, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yes I like your suggestion of transferring info to City of Shellharbour (which is only a stub now anyway) and making Shellharbour Village the basis of Shellharbour. Its a bit difficult to have a source for something that doesn't exist, but I can point to my UBD Wollongong Street Directory (18th Edition, 2006) where the description given in Shellharbour Village exactly matches that of Shellharbour. Plus the article gives its own references named as Shellharbour. Grogan deYobbo (talk) 07:09, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Suburb
[edit]you cant be serious, shellharbour is a city and shellhabour village is a suburb of shellharbour
are you going to say that newcastle is a suburb of sydney? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xposya (talk • contribs) 10:13, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
- Your not correct. Shellharbour legally only exists as a suburb and LGA (City of Shellharbour), like Blacktown which is a suburb of Sydney metropolitan area, and is part (suburb) of the Wollongong metropolitan area. Bidgee (talk) 10:28, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
