Philantropist

Isn't that a bit of a stretch? His philantropy seems to be quite political. 81.164.111.122 (talk) 19:30, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

Much of it may be political. But, reliable sources have described him as such. O3000 (talk) 19:35, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

Jews, Palestine, and Hitler, of course

To editor BobMcK: Discontinue edit warring. You seem to want to tilt at windmills by characterizing the subject's remarks because you want to prove a point. This is not allowed. Chris Troutman (talk) 17:56, 23 January 2018 (UTC)

Politics

Adelson has been a businessman for 70 years and has never run for public office. The lead calls him a business magnate, investor, and philanthropist. Yet, this article is mostly about his politics. The political sections were trimmed awhile back, and have now been "untrimmed". I suggest a "retrim". Comments before I grab an exacto knife? O3000 (talk) 19:05, 26 January 2018 (UTC)

He gives money to political causes and that makes some people angry. Anger is one of the better motives for editing Wikipedia. Cut away! Chris Troutman (talk) 19:38, 26 January 2018 (UTC)

Net Worth

Is there some reason that we need to update the net worth every month? Forbes has an annual rating. Seems a bit silly for an encyclopedia. WP:RECENTISM. O3000 (talk) 01:16, 24 February 2018 (UTC)

Forbes also has a real time rating. --Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 20:59, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
Yes, which we specifically do not use in the Trump article by consensus. Adelson's net worth is mostly in highly volatile stock. O3000 (talk) 21:09, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
Also, apart from any publicly traded securities, Forbes' data is notoriously inaccurate. SPECIFICO talk 21:32, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
The case at Trump is an example of WP:LOCALCONSENSUS unless is was a result of an RfC which explicitly stated that it applies other pages. There is no reason in general to change it every month though. --Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 21:43, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
