Strong supportOppose — I'm probably missing something, but a cursory glance through the DeVotchKa article does not even support including a hatnote in this article. I have no idea where the creation of a Shawn King → DeVotchKa redirect came from, but there is policy against easter eggs linking. This could actually be an uncontroversial move, on those grounds. — V = I * R (talk) 22:40, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Because he is a member of the band. As such, he is likely notable so that an article will be written at some point in time. Shawn King also happens to be a notable singer and the wife of Larry King. Smells like a dab page may be the correct decision. Vegaswikian (talk) 00:28, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
ah... now that you point that out, it's as plain as day. Anyway, yea, a dab & hatnotes would certainly help. I think that this article should be the primary topic though, but I don't have particularly strong feelings on the issue. — V = I * R (talk) 07:25, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not convinced that this is the primary use, Larry's wife does rather well with the google check. The problem is that once you make a move like this, it may be difficult to get the dab page in the correct location. I think that it is always better to have the dab page in the right place from day one. Vegaswikian (talk) 08:03, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
humm... I'm sure that's true, but there currently are not articles for these other people to disambiguate from. I understand what you're saying about getting it right the first time, which is a line of thinking that I tend agree with, but I also feel that we shouldn't anticipate possible issues to that degree. The primary reason for my stance on this is due to the fact that it can be so subjective. However, if we do go with the "we need to actively disambiguate this", then I don't have any issue with making Shawn King the dab page. I just think that there's currently no need for disambiguation, so it would be appropriate to move Shawn King (football) → Shawn King, and then add a hatnote (or possibly two?) to the top of the article. — V = I * R (talk) 21:45, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well Shawn King (singer) does exist. From going through the sources there appears to be ample sources for Shawn King (musician). My betting is that article does not exist because of the redirect and if the redirect was changed, then we would have a third article. I'll also add that there may actually be two Shawn Kings who play for notable bands. The articles where the names appear are not helpful in deciding if there is only one or several. All the more reason for a dab page. Vegaswikian (talk) 22:45, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The dab page is there with two redlinks. Both of those have multiple inbound links so they meet the dab requirements for redlinks on the dab page. But like I said one of those is Shawn King (musician) which may actually be two or more people. So the dab page needs more research. Vegaswikian (talk) 00:10, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
